Gawai: Home Cooked Food is the Best

Food is heaven! During Gawai celebration, my family was served with delicacy food! food that cook at home is indeed has a different aroma with it. I love all the dishes.. err except one.

Nasi Pulut - glutinous rice cooked with water in bamboo

Umbut cooked with ikan masin, definitely one of my fav!

Chicken curry - I'm not sure what are the ingredients, but it's not exactly curry, but it's delicious!

Fish cooked with vege

Obor-obor mixed with lime, red chilly etc.. yummy! this is not cooked.

Ikan bilis with lime & green chilly, selling like a hot cake!

This is the one I'm talking about, it has a strong smell and taste, yuck! it's chicken feet cooked with daun something (forgot the name), but it's actually good for your health especially for woman who just gave birth.

Another one of my fav! Ikan masin Empirang (fried together with thin slices of ginger), it's crunchy (you can eat everything including the bones) and not so salty, that's why I like it. I ate it like I'm eating cracker.

When we were back in town, I did enjoy my Mee Kolok Special and Sarawak Laksa, both were delicious! Oh, these were not home cooked of course :)

Back from Double Celebration: Gawai & Wedding

I'm back!

Flight was delayed 1++ hour, we supposed to fly at 5.50pm today but delayed until 7.05pm. It was confirmed that the delay was due to technical problem, they have difficulties registering passenger details in the computer.

I reached home around 10pm, quickly unpack my things and have shower. Now, sitting on my bed, and checking facebook, I can't online this 1 week because there is no telephone line in my husband village, you have to walk downhill 300 to 400 meters to get 1 or 2 bar.

My wedding celebration was on 31st May (last minute changes, supposed to be on the 2nd June), started from 6.30pm until 8pm. Then they continue with Gawai celebration. I love my costume and my husband's aunt, aunt Pik gave me all the traditional costume to me! how sweet~ I only need to find the accessories because the accessories that I wore belong to aunt San, aunt Pik said it was hard to find the accessories nowadays as there are lesser people making it.

All in all, it all went well, I was really happy for the love and support my husband family gave me and also my family.

May & June Celebrations!

YaY! I'm going to celebrate Gawai for the first time as a wifey!~

Gawai is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd June in Sarawak. I'm going to Kuching this Friday evening and will meet my husband there. My family will also joining us for this year Gawai holiday-the first celebration ever. My parents and siblings will arrive on the 29th while my aunt and cousin will reach Kuching on the 30th. Originally, my mum's aunt (considered my grandma also) and my other cousin are going with us, but at last minute, my grandma has to attend her grandchild's wedding and for my other cousin, his final exam is postponed to a much later date so he has to stay back at his campus until then.

This year Gawai celebration is special because we are going to celebrate special event on the 2nd June, it's our traditional wedding at my husband side! Can't wait to wear my traditional costume.

Oh, almost forgot to wish this, too excited about my new official celebration, hehe, happy Kaamatan!~
